The "C" in BALANCE stands for "Community", and this annual event is one of the ways that Theta Xi gives back to our community. Every October, the brothers of Theta Xi partner with the kids of Cub Scout Pack 511 in Broomfield, CO, to offer them a unique introduction to the sport of rock climbing. For the entire day, our brothers run five different climbing routes in the beautiful Eldorado Canyon State Park, teaching and belaying as dozens of Cub Scouts take turns clumbing up the rocks. From simple scrambles that give the youngest scouts their first cllimbing adventure, to sheer rock walls that give even us a challenge, this yearly event is a favorite of both the brothers and the kids.
Historically, Community Service was one of the principles that all fraternities were founded on. Unfortunately, many modern fraternities have grown away from these roots and the public has focused, with the help of the news media, on more negative aspects. Theta Xi is working hard to change this perception of fraternities, and this event is one way that we can do that. With every Cub Scout parent that we meet, and every positive news story, we are helping to change society's perceptions of fraternities, for the better.
Description Coming Soon
Every spring, the Fraternities at the University of Colorado are paired up with partner Sororities to participate in Greek Week, a friendly competition to determine who the best Fraternity and Sorority are on campus. Greek Week activities include sports competitions – Flag football and Coed kickball – social events such as karaoke, and the biggest competition of them all, Songfest. Flag football is a double elimination tournament, pitting Fraternity against Fraternity in a tough battle for overall supremacy. Kickball is a fun, laid-back chance for you to meet the ladies of the Sorority we are paired with. And Karaoke will give you the opportunity to embarrass yourself alongside your fellow Brothers, singing in front of the rest of the Greek system to your favorite tunes.
Songfest is the highlight of Greek Week, where the members of our partner Sorority put together a ten minute music and dance routine for the men and women to participate in together. Practicing together every evening, with dozens of members of our partner Sorority participating, is one of the best social opportunities we have. Not only is this is a great chance to get to know your female counterparts, it is also a chance to secure yet another accolade for the chapter by taking the Songfest Trophy, which usually leads to the overall Greek Week Championship. Theta Xi won Songfest and the overall championship in 2004, and we look forward to taking back the title this year!
